How Lane Money collects, uses, and shares information when you use https://lanemoney.com and https://app.lanemoney.com.

Last updated June 14, 2026

Information we collect

Account data. Email address and profile identifiers from Clerk when you sign up or sign in.

Bank and transaction data. On paid plans, when you connect an institution through Plaid we receive read-only account metadata and transactions (amounts, dates, descriptions, categories where available). We do not receive or store your bank login credentials.

Payment data. Stripe processes subscription payments. We receive billing status, plan, and limited customer identifiers—not full card numbers.

Usage and chat data. Product interactions, device/browser signals, and messages you send to the AI assistant. Chat content may be sent to OpenAI (or another configured model provider) to generate replies.

Analytics. Page views and conversion events through Google Analytics when enabled, using cookies or similar technologies as described by Google.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide dashboards, categorization, exports, and the AI assistant.
  • Process subscriptions, trials, and billing through Stripe.
  • Authenticate you, prevent abuse, and keep the service secure.
  • Send transactional messages (such as account or billing notices) when applicable.
  • Measure and improve marketing and product performance.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use bank data for advertising.

Plaid (required disclosure)

Lane Moneyuses Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”) to gather your data from financial institutions. By using our service and connecting a financial account, you grant Plaid the right, power, and authority to access and transmit your personal and financial information from the relevant financial institution on your behalf, and you acknowledge and agree that your information will be treated in accordance with Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.

Plaid may provide you with notices and consent flows during Link. Do not connect an account if you do not agree to Plaid's terms and privacy policy.

Service providers

We share data with processors that help us run the product, including:

  • Plaid — bank connectivity
  • Stripe — payments and subscriptions
  • Clerk — authentication
  • OpenAI — AI assistant (when configured)
  • Google Analytics — site analytics (when enabled)
  • Vercel and our database host — hosting and storage

Each provider processes data under its own terms and only as needed to deliver the service.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and transaction data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with law, and resolve disputes. When you disconnect a bank, we remove associated Plaid items and synced transactions from our systems. When you delete your account, contact hello@lanemoney.com and we will process deletion within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention requirements.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Your choices

You can disconnect banks from dashboard settings, manage billing in the Stripe portal, and opt out of non-essential analytics through your browser or device settings where available.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal information. Contact hello@lanemoney.com to exercise those rights.

Children

Lane Money is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this policy and will revise the date above. Material changes may be communicated by email or in-product notice.

Personal finance and side-business tracking — synced from your bank, not manual entry.

  • I used to export CSVs every Sunday and still couldn't tell if I was up for the month. Lane synced my accounts in a weekend—now I ask where the money went instead of guessing.

  • Turo payouts and groceries lived in one checking account. I spent months wondering if renting was worth it — the profit dashboard finally let me answer yes, with numbers, not guesswork.
